Layered flowers with Altenew

Creating layered cards with Altenew Stamps can be simple and fun. For me, I often find the most challenging element is determining which stamps I want to use followed by which colors I will use for the various layers.

For this particular card, I wanted to use a bolder flower to accompany this beautiful Believe in Yourself sentiment. I usually have a few sentiments in mind before I begin the design phase of the card. For this card, I had a very specific sentiment as this one is for a friend recovering from a surgery. (At the time I made the card, she had not yet had the surgery but was battling some significant medical challenges.)

As mentioned, I knew which sentiment I wanted and as it happened the flowers that were paired with this sentiment caught my eye for this card. The next challenge was to find the colors that layered well together while still allowing for the beauty of the distinct layers. Latter, I enhanced the detail with a touch of shimmer from the metallic water color set.

To create this card, I used one of the lightly stenciled backgrounds I created with the airbrush when making the the holiday cards. I used my We R Memory Keeper precise stamp system to make my layered flowers. For which I used the cooresponding die cuts.

I created the base for the sentiment by blending several of the inks used for the flowers on solar white cardstock and cut the base with the crystal die cuts Collection. I stamped the sentiment in silver and embossed in translucent Pearl to add shimmer while retaining the detail of the stamped sentiment.

I used a thin foam to raise the sentiment while using foam squares and tape to vary the layered heights of the flowers. This helps to create shadows and dimension.
