The AECP classes truly have something to teach all viewers; from the beginner to the advanced. The lessons are jam packed with wonderful tidbits of information. The series on masking techniques was definitely one that has been memorable for me as I learned a great deal from this series. It also inspired me to host my first live presentation, well two part presentation, on Facebook.
For this card, I wanted to have a beautifulmy painted flower with a gradual buildup background color from the opposite corners towards the center. It didn’t go quite as planned as I missed a crucial step. Though I’m getting ahead of myself here.
First let me explain how made my first masking of the flowers to create the background. I Stamped my floral set, embossed in gold and than proceeded to put the liquid friskett over the flowers. Once dried, I began creating my wash blend for the background. This was a combination of ink on my palllette, water infused with micha and the Altenew pearlescent sprays. I truly loved the background color. Unfortunately, I had not thought of masking the background when coloring the flowers and the beautiful colors blend into the background.
As you can see, not all was lost as i fussy cut the top portion and was able to save the card.
its easy to give up when our The plan for our card deviates from Our original intention. That being said, I highly suggest continuing on with your endeavor. The best case scenario being that you learned a lesson and can still use said card, the worst case is again learning a lesson and possibly having someone for your art journal.
